Jack Dorsey, Block's CEO, just laid off 4,000 people (almost half the company) while the company was highly profitable, all because of AI. Their stock jumped 20% right away. While leading Twitter, Jack was the first CEO of a large tech company to send employees home at the start of the pandemic. It wouldn't surprise me if this move triggers a massive avalanche of layoffs in other companies.
